Our approach to environmental responsibility

At Legamaster, we work to understand and address the environmental impacts connected with our operations, products and value chain.

As part of the edding Group, we use recognised standards, certified management systems and defined improvement programmes to structure this work. This page explains which certifications, labels and initiatives apply to our organisation, selected products and specific materials.

We use recognised standards, certifications and environmental labels to provide transparent information about defined aspects of our operations, products and materials.

Each certification or label has a specific scope. It may apply to a management system, a selected material, an individual product or a defined product group. The information below explains these distinctions.

Chain of Custody certification - FSC

FSC® certification supports the responsible sourcing of forest-based materials.

Selected Legamaster products contain material from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources. Certification applies only to the products and materials specifically identified as FSC® certified.

Product environmental label - EU Ecolabel

The EU Ecolabel is the European Union’s official voluntary label for environmental excellence.

Selected Legamaster whiteboards and paper pads have been awarded the EU Ecolabel. These products meet environmental criteria established by the EU Ecolabel for multiple stages of their life cycle. Only the products specifically identified are covered by the EU Ecolabel.

Management system certification - ISO certifications

Legamaster's management systems are certified according to ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 9001 for quality management.

These certifications relate to how we manage our organisation and continuously improve our processes. They do not certify the environmental performance of individual products.

Corporate sustainability assessment - EcoVadis Silver Medal

The edding Group, including Legamaster, has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal in recognition of the Group’s sustainability management practices.

The Silver Medal is awarded to companies ranked among the top 15% of organisations assessed by EcoVadis during the 12 months preceding the award date. It reflects the quality of the edding Group’s sustainability management system and its commitment to transparency across the value chain.

We describe these projects individually, including their purpose, scope and implementation. Participation in an initiative does not represent an environmental certification of Legamaster or of its complete product portfolio.

Member of 1% for the Planet

Legamaster is a registered member of 1% for the Planet, a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions.

Through this membership, Legamaster contributes to selected environmental organisations within the 1% for the Planet network.

Supporting environmental education with Choisis Ta Planète

Through its 1% for the Planet membership, Legamaster supports Choisis Ta Planète, a French non-profit organisation that raises awareness of environmental and social issues among primary school children.

Through classroom workshops and year-long educational projects, pupils are encouraged to better understand these challenges and take positive action within their school or local community.

Interactive displays, built for a longer life

What we do for our EVOLVE touch displays

An interactive display is at the heart of a classroom or meeting room, often for many years. We want every EVOLVE display to stay useful for as long as possible, and to be handled responsibly when its time is up.

That is why we offer repair services and spare parts, take back displays at the end of their life, and ask our supply chain to be open about the materials that go into them. Below you can read what this means for EVOLVE PRO and EVOLVE DYNAMIC, and where each service is available.

Repair services and spare parts - EVOLVE touch displays

We want our displays to stay in use for as long as possible. For EVOLVE PRO and EVOLVE DYNAMIC displays, Legamaster provides repair services and spare parts, including main boards, power boards, power cables, touch frames, OPS boards, Wi-Fi modules, remote controls and styluses.

Repair services and spare parts are available for at least 5 years from the date of purchase, and up to 8 years with an extended warranty.

In the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and France, our warranty includes on-site service and parts for the first 3 years and parts (excluding the panel) in years 4 and 5. Extended warranty of up to 8 years is available for eligible products.

Take-back service - EVOLVE touch displays

When your EVOLVE PRO or EVOLVE DYNAMIC display reaches the end of its useful life, you can return it to Legamaster – whether or not you buy a new product from us. The service is currently available in the Netherlands.

The costs of returning the display – shipping it to our collection point in Lochem or bringing it there yourself – are paid by the customer.

How it works

Send a take-back request through our support form.
We check your request and send you instructions for return shipment or for drop-off at our collection point in Lochem, the Netherlands.
You return the display.
We assess the display and decide on the best treatment.

Returned displays are handled in this order of priority: reuse, refurbishment, recycling and – only when none of these is possible – disposal.

Before returning a display, please delete all your data from it. You can find the instructions in the data deletion guide for your display in our Product Information Database.

Responsible sourcing of minerals - tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold

Legamaster is committed to responsible sourcing and supports efforts to avoid minerals that may contribute to conflict or human rights abuses.

For our EVOLVE PRO and EVOLVE DYNAMIC displays, we ask our supplier to provide conflict minerals information using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) of the Responsible Minerals Initiative. We review this information and keep records of the smelters and refiners reported in the supply chain. We support the sourcing of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold from smelters and refiners that take part in recognised assurance programmes, such as the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP).

Substances of very high concern - REACH Article 33 information

Under Article 33 of the EU REACH Regulation, we inform customers when a product contains a substance of very high concern (SVHC) above 0.1% by weight in an article.

EVOLVE PRO and EVOLVE DYNAMIC displays: the electronic component boards contain lead (CAS no. 7439-92-1) above 0.1% by weight. The lead is used in applications that are exempted under the EU RoHS Directive (Annex III, exemptions 6(c), 7(a) and 7(c)-I).

Safe use: the lead is enclosed inside the display, so there is no exposure during normal use. Do not open or dismantle the display. At the end of its life, return it through our take-back service or a WEEE collection point.
